What is RAMP?
Responsible alcohol management is implemented to eliminate
sales to patrons under 21 and those that are visibly intoxicated.
The management system based upon the following:
- All owners and managers of establishments that sell
and serve alcohol require training geared toward their
responsibilities.
- All employees who sell, serve or work around alcohol
need training geared toward their responsibilities. A good
program includes timely training for newly hired employees.
- All establishments that sell and serve alcohol need
clear policies and procedures for employees.
- All establishments need signs that remind customers
that it is illegal to serve or sell alcohol to those under
21 and that employees have been instructed to card customers
under the age of 27.
- All establishments need to make use of technology, such
as electronic ID checkers.
A licensee with an alcohol management program sends a clear
message to employees and customers about his or her commitment
to the community. A licensee also understands the importance
of protecting it’s operation, employees and general
public. Those operators that don’t implement responsible
alcohol management training programs put themselves and the
community at risk.
