Why responsible alcohol management?
Responsible alcohol management reduces youth access to
alcohol and protects the public, licensees and employees.
A 1999 statewide poll indicated that 78 percent of residents
feel that bars, clubs, restaurants and beer distributors
are not careful enough in preventing teenagers from buying
alcohol.
- More teens die from an alcohol overdose or drunk driving
crashes than from all other causes combined.
- A high proportion of teen suicides, homicides, assaults,
drowning and recreational deaths and injuries involve alcohol.
- There is considerable evidence that those who drink
at a younger age are more likely to develop later alcohol
addiction and ten times more likely to use illicit drugs.
